BiographyDr. Zucchiatti is a general and laparoscopic surgeon practicing full-time at United Memorial Medical Center. He is also a Clinical Adjunct Faculty Member for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (Erie, PA), a Faculty Member for the United Memorial Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program and the National Surgical Quality Improvement Project (NSQIP) Surgeon Champion for United Memorial.
Dr. Zucchiatti graduated Medical School at the Universita' degli Studi di Genova, Italy in 2005. He then decided to move to the United States to receive top surgical training. He worked as a Research Fellow in the Trauma/Burn/Emergency Surgery Department at the University of Rochester Medical Center (Rochester, NY) for one year and subsequently matched into the General Surgery Residency Program at the same institution, graduating from the program in 2012. During his residency, Dr. Zucchiatti was exposed to all surgical subspecialties in-depth, but eventually decided that he wanted to pursue a career in community/general surgery, allowing people living in the country access to general as well as more specialized surgical care without having to travel to major medical centers.
Dr. Zucchiatti has been at United Memorial since September 2012. He performs a wide variety of surgical procedures, ranging from the basic ones (minimally-invasive gallbladder and appendix removal, skin lesions removal) to complex minimally-invasive surgery (bowel resection, inguinal/abdominal wall/hiatal hernia repairs), hemorrhoid surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, long-term venous access placement (central lines and MediPorts) and endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopy as well as bronchoscopy).
When he is not taking care of patients, Dr. Zucchiatti is deeply involved in United Memorial's commitees and improvement projects. He currently presides the Surgical Quality Committee and he is an active member of the United Memorial Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors, the Surgical Executive Committee, the Surgical Value Analysis Committee and the Infection Prevention Committee.
