There are many external quality information sources that can be valuable in assessing the quality of the healthcare organization. These sources present the data in a variety of ways and across a variety of time periods. United Memorial Medical Center uses all of these sources in its regular monitoring of its quality data. Each source represents quality data in a way that is useful in measuring some aspect of the organizations quality program.
• The Joint Commission
• Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
• New York State Department of Health
• Hospital Quality Alliance
• National Quality Forum
• Niagara Coalition
• Healthgrades
Reports from these quality organizations are analyzed regularly and reported to appropriate committees that have the greatest ability to react to the results of the data. Key data elements are compiled and reported to the Board of Directors as appropriate along with appropriate action plans and corrective measures.
